Criminal Records Searches And Background Checks

Ahh those Canadians are a funny lot. You see, in Vancouver, there’s been a few changes to the law. And it’s all got to do with criminal records checks.

Now you probably know that teachers work with kids most of the day. And you also probably know that because they work with kids, then they should have their criminal records checks done on them. Just to make sure there isn’t an axe murderer or something in the classroom with our kids.

Anyway, this is where the problems begin.

You see, you may think teachers are smart people who should have nothing to hide. So that’s why, in Vancouver, from Jan 1 next year, teachers are to have criminal records checks done every 5 years. This sounds fair right.

But the teachers are against it. You see, they want to find a way to protect school children without forcing teachers to undergo criminal record checks every five years.

Anyway, the reason why they don’t want to do it is because they think they don’t work well. ( I guess they haven’t used something like Government Records, where you can get up to date and detailed criminal records checks on people.)

I don’t know about you, but if you got nothing to hide, then why be scared of having a criminal records check every 5 years.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder if those teachers who don’t want the new law introduced, have a hidden past or something.
