If you read the News Gazette online, you may have read how a 23 year old man was sentenced for bashing his landlord. Worse part was that the landlord was a woman.

Now. I’m not one for violence. And when it’s against women, I really don’t like it.

Anyway, in the article, the landlord put him up and gave him a place to stay. Even the man said how she put him up when no one else would.

The only problem is that the landlord made a small mistake, which cost her cuts to her head and tongue, bruises all over, cracked teeth, puncture wounds and injuries to her right shoulder and arm that still hurt.

I know you may be thinking that she should have done some background checks before she let this guy have keys to her place. And she could have done free background checks by going to her county and asking for it.

I know it’s easy to say after she was bashed to the inch of her life, but sometimes it’s hard to do. Or even, you may think it’s nothing worth worrying about. For whatever reason.

I guess the landlords bashing is a good reminder not to relax. You see, if you got access to the internet now, then there is something you can do. And it will only take a couple of minutes to do.

You see, there are services where you can do online background checks within minutes.

Like Government Records and stuff.

You see, how it works is like this. You enter a name in the database, and out comes any “bad” information which the person might have. Whether, they got a criminal record for drink driving, or some other thing, you’ll know more about them. And it does it real quick. It’s like you can do a background check online, while they are still waiting around.

Anyway, I guess if you got the chance, make sure you do background checks online, especially of people you bring into your home.

Who knows if they are a pedophile, rapist, or worse, a murderer.
